2016 Brier Recap

          Congratulations to Team Alberta (skipped by Kevin Koe), winners of the 2016 Tim Horton’s Brier! They went 8-3 in the round-robin, finishing third in the standings. In the 3v4 game they defeated Team Manitoba (skipped by Mike McEwen), and then beat Team Northern Ontario (skipped by Brad Jacobs) in the semi-final game, and lastly Team Newfoundland-Labrador (skipped by Brad Gushue) in the final. As Team Canada, they will go on to the Men’s World Curling Championships in April. They’ve also earned a spot on Team North America in the 2017 Continental Cup in Las Vegas, and will earn a berth in the 2017 Tim Horton’s Roar Of The Rings if they medal at Worlds. Of note is that both iterations of Team Canada (the other being Chelsea Carey’s Scotties-winning team) not only hail from the same province, but also the same curling club (Glencoe Curling Club in Calgary). As for my predictions for the event, as with the Scotties I once again correctly predicted all four playoff teams. In terms of final placing, I was once again 2/4. I did have the correct medal game match-ups, however I had predicted Team Manitoba to win the Bronze Medal as opposed to Team Northern Ontario, but correctly predicted Silver for Newfoundland-Labrador, and Gold for Alberta.     And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the...
