WINNIPEG CHOSEN AS “CURLING CITY”
Listeners of the NerdCurl podcast declare the city as the Center of the Curling Universe

Winnipeg, Manitoba was chosen by the popular vote of NerdCurl podcast listeners as “Curling City.” The podcast reached out to its listeners to find the center of the curling universe, with Winnipeg handily winning the two rounds of the vote.

“Winnipeg and its 18 curling clubs makes perfect sense to be Curling City,” said Phil Darin – one of the hosts of the NerdCurl podcast. “And voters helped to make sure we knew about it. Tweets and emails poured in during our first round (open to any city), and finished with a great flurry to ensure their city won the competition.”

Other cities that finished in the Top 5 were Edmonton (Canada), Regina (Canada), Minnesota/St. Paul (US) and Bemidji (US).

Chelsea Carey, 2014 Manitoba Provincial Women’s Curling Champion, tweeted “#YWG gets my vote by a mile. Best curling city there is IMO.”

Colin Hodgson, Lead for Team Reid Carruthers, agreed. In response to the question of “Where is Curling City?”, Hodgson tweeted “Winnipeg of course. This place is passionate about their curling.”
